Hi, My Name Is Sam. I'm Newly Adopted And Am 3 Months Old. My New 1.5 Year Older Is Aggressive And I Eat Normal Kitten Food. My Flatulent Bowel Movements Are Mucousy And Stinky. What Should I Do?

Sam has been with us 1 week and has adapted to our home very quickly. We also have a 1.5 yr old cat that is nervous and aggressive (i.e. Biting) the few limited times they play together. The main concern is Sam's digestive health (flatulent diarrhea). He eats Purina Kitten Chow and drinks plenty of water. Second : How do we adjust our older cat to the kitten.? (The kitten has no fear or aggression toward our older cat.) Thanks

Your cat is eating bad things. Flatus gases are formed in its stomach causing trouble for your cat. In some pets it is noted that they have swollen stomach. They eat excessively and salivate. This can be your cat food that is causing trouble so be careful about this disease.

I would recommend you to change your cat's food. Your kitten is just 3 months old so it requires soft digest able food. Even cat requires soft food at this moment. Sharing her food and other stuff is making cat aggressive but with the passage of time she will be used to it.

The real problem with your cat is that it is possibly not adjusted to Purina. My cat had the same problem it happens a lot with Purina something in make cats movements smell really funny and look really gooey like so it is best you try iams. It will make there movements a little better and less smelly, and it will also stop any throwing up or aggression because of stomach problems.(also if you feed you cats wet food you should stop because it is what also make there movements gooey)

If you've only had the kitten a week it could be she isn't used to the Purina. When you change a cat's diet suddenly it will affect their stools and stomach. You should always mix the current food with the new food, using a small amount of the new food. As you increase the new food they adjust much easier. I also agree with the others about Purina. It's a very poor quality food. My dad worked construction in a Purina plant and they would get maggots on the food lines over night and they just made the food maggots and all! Before I knew this I did feed my kittens Purina and one of them had a severe allergy to it and started salivating. She had holes in her tongue and the vet said it was the Purina. Since then I've done a lot of research on cat food and even I have high amounts of things that cats often have allergies to. The best food I could find is by Nutura. They make a few different kinds of natural foods. I use EVO and my cats love it! Look them up at www.nuturapet.com. More money but they eat less and actually produces less bowel movements.
