My minor daughter has biopsy results that were returned to the doctor 2 days ago. Dr's office states they only release results during an office visit. Dr is 4 hours away and I am out of town working right now. My daughter has been battling undiagnosed problem for 6 weeks now. Can a doctor really do this?

It's the law. He could lose his licence for giving results over the phone. The legalities come in because he can't know absolutely who he is talking to over the phone. There are too many people out there who would call and say they are the parent to find out what the results are.
I know you are concerned for your daughter, you really need to take the drive and find out about the results.

They can hold test results,but you as the patient have the right to them.
