Chile, formally known as the Republic of Chile basically is a country located in South America covering a long and thin coastal line which is jammed amid the Andes Mountains and the Pacific Ocean.
Chile shares its borders with the Pacific Ocean towards the west, with Peru towards the north, with Bolivia towards the northeast, with Argentina towards the east and with the Drake Passage towards the southernmost edge. There are many different hypotheses about the derivation of the term Chile.
Chile was initially colonized by migrating Native Americans, who came here nearly 10,000 years ago.
According to the census conducted in the year 2002 the total population of this region was 15,116,435, having an average population density of 21 per square kilometers. The census report of 2002 also stated that the total area of this region was 756,950 square kilometers.
