    Actually by the time the 1850 they were using diesel train and coal but the majority of the trains were in the north east and the midwest

      The first steam train railway locomotive was made a lot earlier than you state,it made it's maiden run on 21st Feb.1804 at Penydarren,Merthyr Tydfil,WALES,UK.and ran to Abercynon,a distance of nine and a half miles.
