Timperley is a village that is located inside the town of Altrincham, and is also a part of the Metropolitan Borough of Trafford in Greater Manchester, England. It is located within the historic county boundaries of Cheshire. It is around 7 miles (11 km) south-west of Manchester.

The name Timperley is derived from 'Timber Lea', which means "clearing in a wood". Timperley is an inhabited region and the houses here date back to the 1930's and also with only a little older ones. It was also considered as one of the numerous 'townships' in the Bowdon. Some of the famous personalities that come from this very region are The Stone Roses founders Ian Brown and John Squire, the bizarre story bound comedian Frank Sidebottom and the comedy writer and actress Caroline Aherne.
