Why Is Billy Connolly Sometimes Referred To As ‘The Big Yin’?

The popular British comedian Billy Connolly was born and brought up in Glasgow, Scotland; he is known as 'The Big Yin' or the big one in Scotland in reference to his size as he is over six feet in height. In his long career Connolly has time and again displayed his versatility and has been a musician, presenter and actor as well as amusing the audience with his quirky sense of humor.

The actor's hugely popular World Tours, he has undertaken four till date visiting Scotland, England, Ireland, Wales, Australia and New Zealand are the highlights of his career; Connolly has also been every bit as popular as an entertainer in the US where he has appeared along with Whoopi Goldberg in a special produced by the Brooklyn Academy of Music.

Connolly though he is more known for his skills in making people laugh is as competent when it comes to music; the single DIVORCE sung by him in 1975 topped the UK singles chart. Connolly has received several awards and honors; he has received the BAFTA Lifetime Achievement Award and has also been presented with a CBE.
