My water pressure valve needs replaced on my water tank. I cannot get the old one removed because it is really old. How can I loosen it up to get it removed?

Usually a pipe wrench and a four foot hunk of pipe Will do the trick. You must first shut off the hot and cold water coming out of the water heater. If you only have a shut off on the cold, that is fine. If there are no shut offs at the water heater, you must shut the water to the house. Drain the water heater via the pressure relief by lifting the lever on the relief. When the water stops coming out, you may now unscrew the old releif. Tape and dope the new relief and install. open all shut offs and you're back in business. you'll get air sputtering at the tap until all the pipes fill with water.
