The Bible-Is The Bible Really The Work And Word Of God Or Is It A Book That Was Written By Hundreds Of Men?

I know what you mean!!! My understanding is that it was written by men with 'divine inspiration' of God......but that's a little hard to understand!! Also, it is a series of different books that were then put together in the way we know it now.......I've always felt that the people who put the thing together (a council of popes, I think!!) just picked and chose what they wanted in it.......otherwise, why would there be so many missing books of the bible floating around? What was wrong with those? Who are these guys to say the ones they left out have no value, etc?  so I"ve always taken the bible with a grain of salt, so to speak.....lots of good stuff in there...recent archaeological discoveries have, however, proven that some of the stories in the bible have some basis in fact....My gripe is, we'll never know what the COMPLETE bible was, as mankind had it's 'dirty little fingers' in it, leaving this in, and taking that out, etc.....some people say if its the word of God why was slavery allowed? Oh well, the debate goes on and on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
