Do You Think Battery Hens Have A Cruel Way Of Life?

Answer Question

I have looked up what is called a battery hen and yes I think its cruel the way the hens are forced to lay their eggs. It is not natural for them to lay in a cage without a nest, not able to dust bathe, or even stretch their wings! When chickens are confined it can cause cannibalism, they are usually packed four to a cage, with no way to stretch or move around freely. Chickens love the sun, and they never see the light of day. So yes I think its a cruel way of life for those poor chickens. I know egg production is important, but do it in a way the chickens are more comfortable.

Yeah it's is sad but i agree with "mamahen" to find a way to do it in a way where chicken are more comfortable, like re-designing the cages because if the world went 50% barn and 50% free range and wiped out cage system it just isn't economically suitable in all levels for a start free range is highly complicated and your faced with lots more diseases, the same with barn, and its so expensive, it is also alot of hard work
