Is It Better To Have Just One Dog?

Answer Question

2 Answers - Sort by: Date | Rating

There are various advantages and disadvantages to having both one dog and a couple of dogs. Obviously if you are an animal lover you will think that more dogs equals more pleasure and for many people that is completely true. However, if you are a first time dog owner, just one dog is usually enough!

The problems come when you want to train the dogs. If you have bought two puppies together or around about the same time, they are likely to grow up and only really listen to each other. They will want to be together at all times and they will find it a lot more interesting playing together than listening to a word you have to say. So, training two dogs at the same time can be an absolute nightmare. On the other hand they can keep each other company, especially if you are out a lot of the time and they can bring you plenty of joy. Just realise that it is hard work with just one dog but even harder with two or more!

I have only one dog, and when my sister came over to let me watch her dog for her, he was totally crazy with my dog. I decided not to have a second dog. Stick to one dog. But remember to keep him/her healthy!
