Taking photos is an art; be it candid photography, nature photography or photography to create a portfolio. To take a panoramic photo one needs no specials equipments. Just small pieces of information are enough.
One should take overlapping photos of the scene and then stitch them up with the help of software available. Use of any camera is good. One does not need a very good lens. But, if a digital camera is used the scanning of the scenic area becomes easier.
Check the PC for available memory to manage the joining up of the images. About three mega-pixels of space is enough. One should take images at a wide angle. If not, then the camera must possess large storage space. Once pictures are taken, they can be joined by use the software - omnistitcher or panorama factory.

Some cameras now come equipped with Panoramic functions. For instance the Sony Ericsson has 3 image panoramic function - this allows you to join 3 photos together.
Also 'smartphones' with Symbian OS can have small panoramic applications installed. These are easy to use and make great shots!
If you want to take professional panoramic shots you'll need a sturdy tripod. You then need to mark out each spot for each photo. Then they can be joined up perfectly in the darkroom.
