My landlord raised my rent a few months ago from 780 to 1000. Our original deposit was 780 now he is asking us for additional 220 dollars to equal a 1000 deposit,is this legal?

It might be, your safest bet would be to call or go to the courthouse and talk to them about landlord/tenant laws. See if they have anyone you can talk to, or somewhere that you can investigate this for yourself.
In the meantime, tell your landlord that you are researching it to find out if he can do this. Hope this helps, and good luck.
