    Some of the ingredients found in these drinks and there is concern with use during pregnancy.
    • Carnitine, ginkgo, inositol, milk thistle, taurine have insufficient, reliable information regarding safety during pregnancy and lactation and therefore it is advised to avoid these ingredients.
    • In animal studies, ginseng has been shown to have a damaging effect on the fetus and should therefore be avoided during pregnancy.
    Professional Comments: Would I encourage the use of energy drinks?? NO WAY!
    • The surge of sugar only adds unnecessary calories to the diet.
    • The “special herbs and ingredients” aren’t necessary and are used as a marketing ploy for this so-called, magical energy elixir. Many of these ingredients have not been tested for safety during pregnancy and lactation, and in animal studies ginseng has been shown to have damaging effects on the fetus.
    • The vitamins added to the unique formula are unnecessary and are often at levels far exceeding suggested daily intake.
    • The cost of this caffeine buzz is ridiculous, at $1.75 - $2.50 per can.
