How Is Robotics Used In Modern Warfare And How Will It Influence Warfare In The Future?

You're right that robots are now used in modern warfare.  Aside from surveillance, they are used to detect and safely detonate roadside bombs and wired vehicles.

There is a lot of research going on to develop remote and radio controlled devices to send on to the battlefield instead of sacrificing humans. Therein is the problem.  When robots become "the tools of war", as you put it, we remove the human factor.  War loses it's reality and becomes reduced in its nature as something horrible.

Robotics is also being used in developing an exo skeletal suit to add the ability to lift extremely heavy loads and move them...besides the preditor drones used for surveillance and attacking enemies without losing lives..they are also going forward with unmanned tanks and trucks.... I don't know if you have ever watched the original aliens movie but they used  what i like to call a walking forklift in one of the scenes which at the time was an actual piece of equipment used in a factory by the workers for moving big steel crates of machined parts....so robotics is farther ahead than you think and is closer to everyday personal use than you know...later
