How Many Teams Did Brian Clough Manage?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Brian Clough managed five league clubs, in a career spanning four decades from 1965 five until 1993.

During his time as a league club manager, Clough presided over one thousand, one hundred and forty matches; winning just under half of those (five hundred and five), drawing two hundred and ninety one and losing only three hundred and forty four; giving Clough a managerial record comparable with any of the game's greats.

Clough began his management career at fourth division Hartlepool United in 1965, where he stayed for two years, before moving to Derby County.  He remained with the Rams for just over six years, before leaving and heading to the South coast and Brighton, where he remained for only thirty two league matches and nine short months.

This was considerably longer than he managed to last in his next appointment at Leeds United where he took charge for only six league games before being dismissed.

Clough's last club was Nottingham Forest were he stayed as manager for an impressive eighteen years.
