When Was Aldershot Town Football Club Founded?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Aldershot Town Football Club was founded in 1992 as the successor club to Aldershot F.C which was founded in 1926 but had financial problems and went bankrupt.
Aldershot Town was formed as a result of this.

Aldershot Town were originally admitted to the Isthmian League Third Division for the season of 1992/93. The club was gradually promoted through the divisions of this League, until 1998, when they emerged as Isthmian League First Division Champions and so achieved promotion to the Conference.

The club went from strength to strength at the beginning of the Millennium and in the 2003/04 season, they reached the play-off final against Shrewsbury Town, which they unfortunately lost on penalties.

The club has also fared well in the FA cup campaign. In the 2006/07 season, Aldershot Town beat their local rivals Basingstoke Town and made it to the third round of the FA cup.

'The Shot's' play their home games at the Recreation Ground which has a capacity for approximately 7,500 people.

The club finished in 13th position in the Conference table for the 2005/06 season.
