Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

The reason behind Giraffes long neck is still a mystery. The only justified reason given is that it helps them to browse leaves of trees. They are the tallest living mammals on our planet. They have around seven vertebrae in their neck which is the usual number for a mammal.

Most males stand around 19 feet high. They weight anything between 1,200 to 1,400 lbs. In spite of this can run up to a speed of 35 kilometers an hour. They also have long tongues which help them grasp tasty inner leaves. Their tongue can stretch up to eighteen inches.

A male Giraffes neck weighs anything around 200 lbs and can be stretched up to six feet. They fight over females, swinging their necks: longer necks give better advantage and momentum.
