Can You Bath Newborn Puppies?

Answer Question

4 Answers - Sort by: Date | Rating

No I asked that to my vet and they said no because there are several reasons...1st is that the mom isn't going to want to give them milk because they're not going to have the smell of her new born anymore so she will think it belongs to another dog and could possibly abandon them. 2nd they are very sensitive at this age (newborn) and there is a chance that they can get pneumonia. So NEVER take them a bath until ther about 3months or older. Buy the flea spray at the clinic and that will take the fleas off of them with no harm. Hope I helped you =)

No the mother will clean them her self by licking them. With them being so young it will kill them if you give them a bath

I wouldnt recommend bathing them right away. If they are dirty,or have sticky stuff on them from birth, Id take a warm damp cloth and try to wipe most of it off. In some cases the mother will usually clean them up decently....
