Population of a country is carried out by taking a census. The government of a country takes a census every 10 years to find out the population of their country. This is done by verifying the birth records every year. Biannual updates are produced by the United Nations Population Division to the medium term projections of population. This is to ensure that the researchers have the recent information and data on which they can base their policies. Measurement of people per unit area is known as population density. Countries or cities with high population density are said to be over populated. The world population is 6.5 billion, China being the first most populated country. Ecological optimum, Agricultural density, Physiological density, Residential density and Arithmetic density are some methods to calculate population density.
