What Do You Need To Start A Business?

In my opinion you need the following:
1) A Good idea.
2)Business plan.  This will help you get your business off the ground and will provide you with a model as you go forward.  Hopefully when you create your plan, you would have done the research necessary to see if your business is viable.
3)Funding.  Check into getting a small business loan (You will need to provide a business plan).  You could try a bank but in this market it will be nearly impossible.  If you have your own funding that's great but maybe look into some venture capital.
4)Determination.

There's a lot more but those are the beginning steps.
