In my experience, the 'Senior Citizens' will have heard it all before and will be eager to get to the FOOD. So, why stand in the way of their delicious luncheon and the wonderful interaction which inevitably follows?
(The cruel truth is that they will NOT be interested in Speeches. Welcomes will be superfluous, as many of them will have been coming to your Church since before you were born. And, [brace yourself], they will not be very interested in [Gasp] YOU.)
So, say as little as you humanly can. [Consider taking The Last Supper as your model: - short on speeches, no?] Then give them your blessing to get down to what they came for: - nourishment for body and soul.
