Why Do Alligators Need Water?

I'm not sure bout all the reasons but i know they stay cool in it but please help if you know any more

    Well, I don't believe reptiles can sweat, so overheating is probably a big part of it, as well as staying hydrated. They can leave water, but they tend to spend their time around the vicinity of water, which is understandable. If you lived in a place that went from drought to flood, you might too. Plus, fish and other animals gather to drink and they become easy prey.

      Yes so they wont dry up and do you want to see a dead alligator
