    Windows 2003 is Server Edition

    Windows XP is Client Edition. It comes in two types: Prof and Home. Professional is used in organizations and Home is used for home purposes.

      Server 2003 contains a slightly newer kernel, and is optimized for server usage (no Luna interface by default, no graphics acceleration; etc...).
