I use half vinegar and half water in a spray bottle. Saturate the affected area, bloat, and leave to air-dry. The vinegar neutralizes the smell, and then, after it's dried, a little febreeze will help with the vinegar smell...or you could add fresh lemon juice to the vinegar mixture prior, what ever floats your boat. After 20 years of living with cats, this is what I've found works best. And its far less expensive than those store bought things. Good Luck

I use OdoBan Commercial-Deodorizer, Disinfectant, Meldewstat, Virucide & Sanitizer - It's a concentrate and comes in 1 gal size. I order it from Home Depot by the case and use it all over my home (with pets). It has a gazillion uses!! Smells very good. You can find the more expensive version at Super Wal Mart in the Laundry Section to see if you like it. (Comes in a ready mixed spray - white spray bottle). I use it in place of all those expensive carpet cleaners. Look it up on the Internet - OdoBan by Clean Control Corporation - www.odoban.com MissDaizy

In the pet section of your grocery store there is a whole section where there is shampoo and odor removers, among other things. You need to follow the directions on the bottle. They even make it for carpet cleaners now. I would invest in the cheaper route first, and then do the carpet later if you have to. Hope this helps, good luck.
