Answer Question

Plasma Display Panel is the full form of PDP. It is a thin display where noticeable light is shaped by phosphors keyed up by a plasma release in between two flat sections of glass. The gas discharged has no traces of mercury but a motionless combination of neon and xenon is used.

The plasma display panel was discovered by Donald L. Bitzer and H.Gene Slattow in 1964 at University of Illinois at Urban-Campaign for a company called Plato computer system. The initial monochrome panels became quiet famous in the 70s. The sales started to decline in late 70s but were still used on a large scale in lobbies and stock exchanges.

Matsushita Electrical Industry better know as Panasonic released the largest plasma in the world in 2006 at Las Vegas. The display was measured at 103 inches.
