Can You Connect A Computer To A TV?
I hear that you can connect a computer to a television set so you would be able to watch through the TV instead of the monitor how is it done?

It depends on the computer and TV interfaces you have.
If your computer has a DVI output and you have a newer TV with an extra HDMI input, then all you need is a cable with a DVI connector on one end and a HDMI connector on the other. This will send the video. You'll need another cable for the sound or use your computer speakers. My computer's video card has two DVI outputs, so I bought a cable (on ebay) and use my high def TV as a second monitor.
If your computer has only one VGA output, and your TV has RGB inputs, then you can use a VGA splitter and a VGA to RGB break-out cable or VGA to composite converter. I didn't think a splitter would work very well on VGA, but was pleasantly surprised when I got one and the ghosting was not noticable.
But most older TVs only have a composite video input (sometimes marked yellow) for connecting to something like a VCR. In that case, you will need a VGA to composite video converter box.
But one real slick way to see media files on your TV is with a media player. A media player is a box that goes on your TV and accesses your computer network with either an Ethernet cable or via wireless. These have several outputs for your TV, and allow you to watch video content and access music files from any computer on your network that has Windows Media Player running. D'Link DSM 320 is a model number of one such Media Player device. It has it's own menu system to access media files, but does not allow you to see your Operating System desktop or any other applications.

I agree with Nics answer. I would think it all depends on the tv if it is capable that way or not and also if you have all the necessary cables and equipment that is needed.
