Is It Normal For A Cat To Bleed While In Heat?

We adopted a stray cat who had kittens that are now with the humane society. The mother cat has had two cycles where she has bled both times. Is that normal? Is there anything I can do short of having her spayed as I can't afford that right now. She is not allowed to go out and in fact she doesn't try to unless I am out there.

It is normal for them to bleed, and it will happen every time. You can call the SPCA and talk to them about fixing the cat, when I did that and got their shots, it was under $100. Other than that, I couldn't have been able to do it. I believe in being a responsible owner, and have 4 cats that are all fixed. Hope this helps, good luck to you.

Yes it's normal, it's just that you don't usually see it as cats are so scrupulously clean.
