What Were Celtic Legends?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

The Celts were an ancient people who lived in the region of Western Europe.  Amongst the Celts was the entrenched fetish for storytelling.  The stories told by the Celts to each other are called Celtic Legends.  For about a stretch of several centuries, the bards (more precisely poets or storytellers) have been reciting and singing these stories, passing it from one generation to the next one.  This verbal storytelling went on for many years before the fables were actually preserved somewhere in written form.  Even the Celtic stories that are narrated in the contemporary times are generally told by the Irish people or the Welsh people.  The time when these Celtic Legends were actually scripted in black and white came a long period after the stories had been firstly told.  This is the main reason as to why no one could determine how much of those stories is myth (made up stories) and how much of it is legend (true stories).
