Can You Tell Me About Blur's Rise To Fame?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Blur began their steady rise to fame with the release of their first single in 1990. They were a prominent part of the very successful Britpop era of the mid 1990s. In 1994, they released the Parklife album and single. This release marked a milestone in their career, helping them win awards for the Best Band, Album, Single, and Video at the Brit Awards in 1995. Initially, Blur was just one of the many British bands who followed in the wake of the Stone Roses, only with louder guitars. They went through an image makeover during the mid-'90s, and emerged as UK's most popular band. They successfully established themselves as, heirs to the acclaimed English guitar pop tradition epitomized by bands like the Kinks, the Who, the Jam, and the Smiths. The group created new possibilities, opening the doors for an entire generation of guitar driven bands, who came to be labeled as Brit-pop.
