The Vietnam War was a war fought between 1964 and 1975 on the ground in South Vietnam and bordering areas of Cambodia and Laos, and in bombing runs over North Vietnam

You got your dates wrong mate. The war went on much longer. It started many years before 1964, when France left its colony of Vietnam. America and Russia became involved in 1962, and America pulled out in 1972. It did finish in 1975 tought, when the communist north won, and Vietnam became a communist country.
