My friend, who is gay, has been complaining about two lumps in his genital area and a small sized lump in the area of his throat. He also has been experiencing feverish episodes and appears to have a look of preperstion to him. He also has a frequent cough. He is very sexually active with multiple one night stand partners, hopefully engaging in safe sex practices. I am worried about his health and gently approached him about going to the doctor. He keeps putting me off because he doesn't have insurance.

With multiple partners on a nightly basis, the chance of contracting HIV/AID is very high. It sounds as if he does have a sexually transmitted disease or another illness and he should go see a doctor as soon as possible. Many doctors will work with patients who have no insurance or no employment. Payment options are available. He could also try going to a free clinic. You may contact any social services worker to find out where free clinics are in your area. The health department also offers low cost exams as well.

He needs a doctor immediately, By having so many sexual partners, he's not only putting himself at risk, but also his partners. I'm sure he can find a free clinic, or a clinic that bills on a sliding-fee scale, that can help him out. It's great that he has a friend like you, who cares about him so much.
