A format of communication in which the information is sent by the modulation of a continuous signal is known as an analog communication. For example sound waves.

The current signals of TV and Radio are analog signals. Certain telephone lines are also an example of analog communication.

Analog is defined as an electronic transmission which can be accomplished by adding signals of varying frequency or amplitude to carrier waves of a given frequency of alternating electromagnetic current. Generally analog is related to an electric context, although hydraulic, mechanical and pneumatic signals can be termed as analog signals. Analog signals are also used in sound recording. Some musicians even today in the age of digital recording prefer to go back to analog.

Analog is also a term used in chemistry, it is defined as, a structural derivative of a parent compound that often differs from it by a single element.
