Information Systems are methodologies and systems which are used to keep a track of the inflow and outflow of information within an organization in a specific domain. It includes details such as the cash flow, flow of information related with the activities and statistics pertaining to the organization. It is generally considered that information systems came into place after the advent of computer technology. However, in reality information systems have been in place in the world as long as there have been humans. The oldest known information system in the world was used by Indians which was their accounting system. However, with the advent of technology it became a lot easier to manage and store information and give a realistic account of an organization's financial health on finger tips.
