Can The Oil-pan Gasket Be Replaced By Dropping The Oil Pan? MB 190E 1984?

I have located the leak on the oil pan gasket. Can I replace the gasket by dropping the oil pan? Or does the motor need to come out? Mercedes 190E 2.3L 1984 64K miles

No reason to drop the engine - if the leak is on the pan, the pan will drop off under the veh - change the gasket - put some sealant on it slap it back on and call it good - unless i am missing something special about merz...

If you can remove the pan with the engine, Then you can replace the Gasket without removing the engine.
