Please, dont listen to your vet about nutrition. Nutrition is an elective in vet school and when taken it is usually given by a rep from a cat/dog food company. Unless your vet specializes in nutrition of course. ANd yours obviously has not. ANd dont believe me either, research it for yourself. What you will find is cats are carnivores and require a high protein no grain diet. Cats who are on dry food have a high risk of becoming dehydrated and high incidences of kidney problems and poor quality food can also explain the high rate of diabetes. The advice you got about WEllness and Blue Buffalo was right on. Great foods that mimic the raw food diet, which is the best way to feed to your pet. I can not afford this though so I do the closest thing possible. My cats eat Wellness Core, it is getting a bit expensive so Im going to start mixing with watered down dry. If canned is too expensive for you, water down the dry like the other poster suggested. The other thing to keep in mind is most premium foods are good for all life stage (a banana is good for us if we are 8 months or 80 years right) Many different varieties of one companies food takes up more room on the shelf which means a better chance us consumers will 1) be more likely to see it 2) think it is better because of all the diff formulas. Go to www.dogfoodanalysis.com (I am not affiliated with them in any way) Your pet. Your responsibility to find the answers, not trust others---even vets.

Wet food is so bad for kittens..it cause the poopies and it makes their poop stink really bad!!! I would go get some kitten dry food and moisten it with warm water...the bag will tell you how often to feed it. Also...make sure you get your kitten to the vet soon for a check up and shots....and dont forget to have it spayed or neutered as soon as its old enough!!! The best kitten food is by Wellness...cant get it at the grocery store or walmart..go to a Pet super market or to Petsmart..They have BLUE BUFFALO kitten food...great stuff!!!!!! Get it and try it ...your kitten will love it!!!! Also, make sure to get your kitten dewormed by a vet.....the over the counter stuff can kill them if you give too much!! All kittens have little worms...this will cause them to eat more and to act like they are always hungry...the worms actually eat the food inside of them. Good luck!!!

Thanks I got the 6 week old kitten and a 3 month old kitten from the humane so ciety almost 2 weeks ago. They are up to date on shots and dewormed. They already have appointments to be spayed and neutered. The vet said to feed the little boy wet food until he gains around another pound. The vet said to feed the little girl purena pro plan for kittens because i was feeding her purena kitten chow and she said that was ok but pro plan was better.
That is so wonderful that you saved two kittens from the humane society and uncertain futures! Kudos to you for sure! Im really surprised that your vet recommended the wet food...ususally vets say its bad..at least mine does. I guess you should feed your kitten at least two to three times a day...you know split the can up into thirds. I would ask your vet if you are unsure! Thank god for people like us....I have 3 dogs and 2 cats I have saved from the humane society!!! Good luck!!!
