Answer Question

There were two rivals to President Clinton during the 1996 Presidential elections. There was the Republican candidate Bob Dole and the reform candidate Ross Perot. Clinton received 49 percent of the votes and won. The Republican candidate got 40.7 percent and the reformer got 8.4. However for the first time in forty years it so happened that the republicans managed to gain control over the House of Representatives.

During the 1992 elections Clinton had defeated George Bush Sr. Ross Perot on the other hand did even worse than before.

Robert Joseph Dole had been a Senator from the United States state of Kansas from 1969 to 1996. He had earlier been the Republican Candidate for the 1976 Presidential Elections as the Vice President. Dole has been involved in politics since 1950 when he was elected to the House of Representatives of Kansas.
