    Mary Astor was an American actress who was born on May 3, 1906 in Quincy, Illinois in the United States. She passed away on September 25, 1987.  She was a well-known and well-liked Academy Award-winning actress.

    She is best known for her role as Brigid O'Shaughnessy in The Maltese Falcon, which was released in 1941. She won an Academy Award for her role in this movie.

    Mary Astor began her acting and film career in the silent films during the 1920s when she was a teenager. Some of her silent film hits include 'Beau Brummel' which was released in 1924 and 'Don Juan' which was released in 1926.

    In addition to her fabulous acting career, she was also the author of five different published novels. Her autobiography was a best selling novel and later was made into a film called 'Life on Film'.

    She is now a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
