Where Is Stirling Castle?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Stirling castle is a castle placed in Stirling. It is one of the most important castles in both manners traditionally as well as architecturally in entire Scotland and also Western Europe. The castle is based on the Castle Hill, which is a volcanic crag; it is enclosed by steep hills which make it very easy to defend this castle.

Its strategic placement and the advantage of being surrounded by hills on three sides had made it a key fortification during earlier days. The castle has been declared a national monument and is presently maintained and handled by Historic Scotland.

The castle is also the head office for the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders regiment, even though the regiment is no more garrisoned here. Nearly all the main buildings of the Castle date back to the fifteenth and the sixteenth century.
