How Do We Know That The Earth's Orbit Is Inclined At Some Angle With The Horizontal?

Answer Question

This is a very good question. in such situation we have to take a relative measurements. You think "out of the box". There is no line (plane) drawn to say as the plane of the solar system. So the inclination of an orbit has to be taken relative to the other planets, and as to the whole planetary system. Anyway this inclination is said to be changing. It increases slightly with time. This process takes a long time.

as we know that in winter sun rises far towards south-east,and in summer it moves towards north-east.This will give some hint about the inclination of the earth obit.

No! This is about the azimuth, the orbital inclination, not the inclination to the orbit. You got it wrong man!!

No! there is no horizontal in the universe. There is no up and down, only above and below. We just feel the feeling up and down just because we sense gravity of earth. But in space, there is no up, down and no horizontal, vertical. The inclination of earth's axis is given relative to the orbital plane.
