If I Live In America And Want To Go To China Do I Need To Get A Visa At A Chinese Consulate?

I know there is a Chinese consulate here in my town where i live.

      Yes you should go to Chinese Consulate in your area to get information about applying the Visa. They will provide you related information and material for applying the Visa. Good Luck.

        If you are a US citizen (traveling on a US passport) then yes you will need a visa.
        If you are a US resident and traveling on a Chinese passport then no you do not a visa provided the following.
        Passport required, or one of the following documents:
        - ID card issued by GuangDong PSB; or
        - PRC Travel Permit; or
        - Macao (SAR China) Travel Permit.
