           When Age of Empires III was first released, there were two CDs included in the game. Both the CDs were used for the installation purposes as the game was quite huge. For the installation, you need to insert the disk one first and after the setup reaches the 50 per cent mark, you are supposed to enter the disk two of the game. On inserting the disk two of the game, the setup will continue and will be completed. After the game is completely installed on your computer, you need to insert disk once again in order to play the game.

           The game will not work without disk one. So, disk two was only for installation purposes and has no other use. If you have lost the disk one but still have the disk two, the game still will not work because in order to run the game you require disk one. Now when the game is manufactured, it is found in one DVD format so that you do not have to go through the hassle of taking care of two CDs.
