Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

He is the patron saint because he was sent to Ireland by kidnappers, when he was a boy.  He loved the Irish and learned their language.   He was able to bring the message of christianity to the pagan Celts.  They began to trust him and follow his teachings.  He became the Bishop of Ireland and devoted his life to the Irish.  He was buried in Ireland.
