Born Bruce Fredrick Joseph Springsteen on 23rd September 1949, the American rock and folk singer, guitarist and songwriter became known for his R & B music and as a result has won numerous awards, including several Grammy Awards and one Academy Award and the induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. No one is sure why Springsteen was dubbed The Boss and it was a nickname that he initially didn't like very much. He has since come to terms with it and often refers to himself as The Boss on stage.
Bruce's most famous album was Born to Run, shortly followed by Born in the U.S.A. His hit Dancing in the Dark was the biggest hit single from Born in the U.S.A., reaching number two on the music charts. Springsteen won his Academy Award in 1994 for his song, Streets of Philadelphia, which appeared in the soundtrack to the film Philadelphia. The song and the film was applauded for its positive portrayal of a gay man dying of aids
Today The Boss continues to wow the world with hit after hit and album after album!
