Percentage: Can You Find A % Of An Amount By Dividing?
Example:$5.00 divide by 70% = 7.14 Is this correct? I always thought you should multiply the amount by the percentage. Recently told by employer that I was to divide not multiply.

If you want to find 70% of 7.14 then its 7.14x0.70 = 5
If you want to know that what is 70% of x = 5
then you divide 5 by the 70% which is equal to 7.14
So there is difference between the two thing by multiplying you are getting the percentage of that amount. And by dividing you are getting the actual amount.
