The Game Boy was manufactured by Nintendo. It is a handheld gaming console. The console was first released in Japan on the 21st of April in the year 1989; the American release was done sometime in the month of August in the year 1989. However the gaming console was released in the European market in the year 1990. The medium through which games could be played on a Game Boy was via the 'Game Boy Cartridges'. On the day of its first release in the year 1989 the console was priced at US dollars 89.95. The Game Boy was created by Gunpei Yokoi. He knew that in order to make a successful handheld console it had to be; durable, small, light and inexpensive.

The Game Boy was very famous for its earlier games which included Tetris. One of the most famous games to be released on the Game Boy was 'Street Fighter".

More than 16 years after its release the Game Boy has been a dominant force in the Hand Held market. It has also released its various models like; the Game Boy Colour, The Game Boy Advance, The Game Boy Pocket, Play it Loud Game Boy and The Game Boy Advance Special.
