    Active transport differ from the passive transport in a way that active transport always takes place by the expenditure of energy and takes place from lower to higher concentration or against the concentration gradient. Whereas, passive transport occurs without any expenditure of energy and always takes place from higher to lower concentration or towards the concentration gradient.
