    Quotations are generally used where a subject is being elaborated upon based on the experience or knowledge of another distinct or famous person. An author can use a quotation at the start of each chapter in a book, where it increases its aesthetics; it can be used in argument; to stress on ones point etc.

    Quotations are also classified into various varieties based on their purpose and composition. They can be categorized as being dealing with subjects of beauty, truth, those that inspire or are worthy of memory.

    There are numerous books and internet sites that deal with the subject and provide details related to and quotations from several notable people. Examples of Quotes include this famous one from John F Kennedy "We do not fear to negotiate, but we do not negotiate out of fear".
