What Is A Parasitic Cyst Shown Up In A MRI Scan Above The Eye Causing Double Vision?

I have looked all through my Parasitology Text Book and it sounds a lot like Trichinella spiralis. This is a parasitic nematode that can  be contracted from eating undercooked beef or pork. It can also be transmitted in undercooked game meats such as bear. Is your Dad  hunter? Does he like his meats well done or more rare? Trichinella spiralis is encysted in the striated muscle of the animal. The striated muscle is the part of the "meat" that we eat. This  larvae stays encysted until the meat is digested. It then matures to the adult worm in the intestinal tract causing edima and inflammation, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea, headache and fever. This is the first week after infection. The parasite reproduces in the intestine and the larvae then goes into the migratory phase which is marked by high fever, blurred vision, edema (swelling) of the face and eyes, caugh, pleural pain, and eosiniphilia( high eosinophil count; which is one of the white blood cells) this phase can last about a month and can be fatal. The next phase is the muscular phase where the larva encyst in the striated muscles of the arms and legs, the face, neck and diaphragm. Weakness and fatigue develop at this stage. Treatment at this stage include Prednisone Antitipyretics, Analgesics, and Thiabendazole. Diagnosis is usually done seriologically and by a biopsy of the striated muscle where cysts are suspected. This infection is self-limiting and will not reproduce further after it has migrated to the muscle. It is important that he get medical attention as soon as possible.
