Acute respiratory failure is the very last stage of lung failure. The gaseous exchange becomes so difficult as the lungs stop functioning, and respiratory system collapses. In the final stage of congestive heart failure (which is very much related to the lungs failure) the person is short of his breath. The fluid gets accumulated in his lungs and the movements become so difficult for him.
