    The suffix –est forms the superlative degree of adjectives and adverbs, examples- fastest; warmest; soonest etc. Even though the origin of this suffix is of Geek, It is a native English suffix which was formerly used to form the second person singular indicative of verbs. Examples- knowest; goest; sayest etc.

    It is also known to form the superlative degree of adjectives and adverbs. Examples- greatest; earliest etc. the suffix –est is also used to form the archaic second person as mentioned above, singular of English verbs, example- comest.
